The Harleston and District branch of the Royal British Legion will mark this significant historical event by holding a rededication ceremony of the memorial on Green Lane, Jay’s Green on the 80th Anniversary, Friday 11th April 2025.

About the Event

On 11th April 1945, less than a month before the end of the war, two B-24 Liberator bomber planes from 446 Bomb Group USAAF (706 Squadron), collided in mid-air whilst preparing to land at their Flixton base, after returning from a mission over Regensburg in Bavaria, south-east Germany.  22 American servicemen died as a result of the mid-air collision over Redenhall, near to Jay’s Green in Harleston, Norfolk. There were no survivors.

The Harleston and District branch of the Royal British Legion will mark this significant historical event by holding a rededication ceremony of the memorial on Green Lane, Jay’s Green on the 80th Anniversary, Friday 11th April 2025. The town will also recognise this event with the Stars and Stripes flags being flown.


It is intended to hold a remembrance service at the crash site memorial on Green Lane in Redenhall to honour the ultimate sacrifice that these brave men gave for the freedom that we have today.  The service will commence at 3.30pm to enable a minute’s…
